The Psychological Research and Counseling Center held the fourth online lecture of “Scientific Research Workshop” of this semester on December 16, 2020, with the theme of “Reading Strategies of Scientific and Technological Literature”. The lecture was presided over by Counselor Chen Yao and attended by undergraduates and postgraduates of all grades of the Center.
It’s a great honor to invite Doctor Feng Guo again as the guest speaker to share “how to read” with the students following the previous three online lectures, so as to help students better read the literature and prepare for the future scientific research.
Doctor Feng shared her experience in reading literature from four aspects, i.e., “why to read literature”, “how to choose literature to read”, “how to read literature”, and “how to organize literature and write notes”. Doctor Feng’s language is witty in the process of explanation with the help of many figurative metaphors to make the sharing more vivid, understandable and persuasive. Feng asked the students to read an “influencer” article at the end of the lecture - The Influence of Weather and Air Pollution on Honest Behavior: A Field Experiment about Lost Wallets on Campus. And the teaching method from theory to practice could make the students better master the literature reading method and have a deeper understanding of how the teacher reads the literature.
Finally, the students expressed that they gained a lot from the lecture after the question session and they truly appreciated for Doctor Feng’s sharing. And the lecture came to a successful conclusion.
