A bumper harvest sees no waste of time. When the Xipu Campus is decorated by the jacaranda bloom, the graduates of 2020 of the Psychological Research and Counseling Center (PRCC) are celebrating a very special moment—graduation!
As scheduled, at 14:00, June 7th, 2020, the graduation ceremony of PRCC’s undergraduates and post-graduates was held in Lecture Hall No.2 of the library of SWJTU’s Xipu Campus. PRCC’s director Chen Hua, deputy director Lei Ming, staff members of the counseling department, teaching and research office, the general office, the office of student affairs, together with class supervisors and post-graduate supervisors, jointly attended and witnessed this exciting moment. The ceremony was hosted by Ke Xiaojun, deputy party secretary of PRCC.
The ceremony began with the national anthem. Director Chen Hua made the opening statement on behalf of the center, saying that SWJTU carries the happiness, joy, trouble and doubts of the students’ prime youth. She hopes that in the long journey of life, the graduating students should set clear goals and stick to them with perseverance, take good care of themselves physically and mentally, and lead a splendid life and have a promising future!
After the speech, Director Chen Hua and Deputy Director Lei Ming presented diplomas respectively to the bachelors and masters of 2020 and had photos taken with the students. Meanwhile, He Yanan—a representative of the graduates—offered flowers to Chen Hua as a gesture of gratitude for the earnest and tireless teaching and cultivation by the university, the center and the teachers.
After the presentation of diplomas, Mr. Ke presented two carefully prepared gifts for the graduates from the center. The first one is a custom-made pop-up card showing the southern gate of SWJTU, featuring the hand-written wishes from Professor Chen Hua and Professor Ning Weiwei. The second gift is a short video “2020—Another Beginning for the Graduates of PRCC”, witnessing and documenting the graduates’ days at SWJTU.
Representatives of teachers, Associate Professor Ma Shuqin and Doctor Feng Guo, and the supervisor for the graduating class Ms. Fan Ju said how much they would be missing the students and offered their best wishes. Associate Professor Ma Shuqin hopes the students will ride the horse of their dreams and be their personal best; Doctor Feng hopes that the students will blaze new trails and keep moving forward; Ms. Fan hopes that they will carry faith and set sail in their lives. Professor Ning Weiwei, the party secretary of PRCC, Professor Li Qiang from Nan Kai University who is a part-time professor at SWJTU and the chairman of the master’s thesis defense committee, representatives of alumni of PRCC and the students currently enrolled also offered their messages of congratulations through cloud platforms.
Then three undergraduates, Dai Fabin, Xutang jingyi, and Huang Xin, gave an account of the four years of youth in the form of a cross-talk show. Luo Weiwei, a representative of the graduates, also looked back on the unforgettable three years as a post-graduate student. Xu Zhan, another post-graduate brought the atmosphere to a new high with the song “Youthful You”. All graduating students swore to be their personal best, be happy, bring honour to their alma mater and contribute to the Chinese Dream.
After the chorus of the university song, an exciting lucky draw was held, bringing the graduation ceremony to an end in laughter.
Graduation is an end, but also a new beginning. We hope that the graduates will bear in mind their promises and oaths, bring the luck and courage with them, turn the words of the teachers into a driving force for constant progress, be their personal best and contribute to the country and the society.
