The Psychological Research and Counseling Center held the third special lecture of “Job Hunting Training Camp” series in classroom X2235 at 16:00 on November 26, 2020. The lecture was delivered by Associate Professor Zhou Jing from the School of Economics and Management. and presided over by Counselor Chen Yao. Mr. Ke Xiaojun, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch directly under the Center and the leader of the student work group gave a speech. The senior students of SWJTU who signed up for the job training camp and were expected to graduate in 2021, and all grade-2020 undergraduates of the Center of attended the lecture.
Mr. Ke first introduced Mrs. Zhou and emphasized the importance of the lecture to the students before the lecture and hoped that the students could gain something from the lecture. Mrs. Zhou introduced the basic points of workplace communication from two aspects at the beginning of the lecture: “the importance of communication” and “what is communication and how to communicate in the workplace”. Zhou quoted many examples based on her own experience and famous people’s stories in the process, which made the explanation vivid and convincing.
The vibe of the whole lecture was very good and Zhou’s explanation was gripping. While listening carefully, the students took notes to record the key knowledge points. Mrs. Zhou stepped down from the platform for many times to interact with the students during the lecture so that the students could capture the importance of effective communication closer. Mrs. Zhou’s humor made the classroom full of laughter in the 90 minutes and students also received a lot of knowledge about workplace communication while laughing.
Intended to make the graduating class of year 2021 more competitive in job hunting and more adaptable in the workplace, the lecture, at the same time, also aims to enable the undergraduates of grade 2020 of the Center to understand the needs of workplace ability in advance, so as to make a good plan for their future study and career. After the lecture, the students said: “The one and a half hours is not in vain. If we have the chance next time, we would come to listen to Mrs. Zhou’s lecture and participate in the job training camp!” Finally, Chen Yao made a summary, thanked for Associate Professor Zhou Jing and hoped that students could have good communication skills in their future study and work. And this lecture came to a successful conclusion.
