On July 7, ten students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) traveled thousands of miles to the Psychological Research and Counselling Center of Southwest Jiaotong University, participating in a 6-day "Exchange Project on Traffic and Psychological Practice"
The exchange group arrived in Chengdu on the afternoon of July 7 and stayed in Jinghu Hotel, Jiuli Campus, Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). At 9:00 a.m. on July 8, the Psychological Center held a welcome ceremony for the students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the No. 5 Teaching Building on Xiapu Campus. At the same time, a brief introduction of the development course and present situation of the Psychological Research and Counseling Center and Southwest Jiaotong University was presented at the ceremony. Hua Chen, director of the Psychological Research and Consulting Center, Xiaojun Ke, deputy secretary of the Party branch, and Dr. Liwen Ran attended the welcome ceremony and communicated cordially with the students.
This exchange program focused on the themes of “traffic” and “psychology”. It is a patriotic, learning, cultural and friendship journey. During the six-day and five-night trip, the students from CUHK witnessed the tortuous history of SWJTU, as well as the indomitable spirit of struggle and the rigorous academic attitude. At the National Key Laboratory of Traction Power of Southwest Jiaotong University and the Jinghu Academician Hall, a lecture on "China's current situation and future planning of high-speed railway development was given, and the students from CUHK witnessed the world's leading position held by China's high-speed railway and magnetic levitation technology, and the outstanding contributions made by SWJTU in the field of rail transit. In the laboratory of the Psychological Research and Counseling Center, they were shown how psychology research and counseling work. They learned the wonders and fun of psychology in sand-table room and drawing group counseling. At Tianfu New District Planning Pavilion, they experienced the developing philosophy of innovation, coordination, greenness, openness and sharing, and the planning pattern of world vision and international standards. They felt the Chinese people's great spirit of earthquake relief at the Beichuan Museum and the earthquake site, as well as the brotherhood ties between Hong Kong and Sichuan, Hong Kong and the mainland. In Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, they had the chance to see the giant panda in close distance. In Kuanzhai Alley, Wuhou Temple and Jinli Promenade, they experienced the customs of Shu and the culture of the Three Kingdoms. The colorful itinerary immersed education in fun and the students gained a lot and felt fulfilled.
On the evening of July 11, the teachers and students of the psychological center and the students of CUHK gathered in the Chuanxibazi Hotpot Restaurant. At the end of the exchange visit, teachers and students used hotpot to say farewell, to express their warm friendship and good wishes. The students of CUHK also expressed their gratitude to the teachers and students of SWJTU. On July 12, around 6 p.m. students of CUHK took a safe flight back to Hong Kong, and the "traffic and psychological practice exchange project" came to a successful end.
