During the "3.25 (Love Yourself)" Campus Psychological Cultural Festival for the year 2022, the Psychological Research and Counseling Center (PRCC), launched a series of "mental growth training" for graduate students in conjunction with the Student Affairs Department of the Party committee. The session on mindfulness and academic procrastination was offered by Madam Tang Jing in Jiuli counseling room from 6 pm to 7:30 pm on April 15. Fourteen graduate students attended the training.
At the beginning of the activity, Madam Tang cordially greeted the students. She then learned about the difficulties students encountered in their study, especially academic procrastination. She comprehensively introduced the causes, mechanism and impact of academic procrastination. After that, Madam Tang, as a guide, led the students in mindfulness meditation. Accompanied by the soothing music and Madam Tang’s gentle voice, the students focused on their breathing, experiencing, and "here and now", and discovered their powerful positive force hidden in their body. After the meditation, Tang explained to the students how to practice mindfulness meditation and how to apply it to solving the problem of academic procrastination. Before the end of the salon, the students read the short poems "I allow" and "Loving-Kindness Meditation" together and came to understand that life needs acceptance, awareness, understanding, trust and respect. Finally, the students held hands together, encouraged and empowered each other, and sincerely wished each other a positive change in their future life.
