At the beginning of your new life in college, the COVID-19 epidemic is surging again, which is a spiritual test for all of you. The school pays close attention to your study, life, physical and mental health and tries its best to provide relevant services for you. Let's go hand in hand and tide over the difficulties together! To help you overcome the difficulties, the Psychological Research and Counseling Center (PRCC) hereby presents the following tips to you:

I.Under the pressure of the COVID-19, we may havethe followingphysical and mental changes

1. Physiological changes

Physical pains without obvious causes; abdominal pains and diarrhea; problems with the nervous system and endocrine system; eating disorders and sleep disorders.

2. Emotional Changes

Frequent and prolonged mood swings, such as anxiety and fear.

3、CognitiveChanges

When you pay too much attention to the symptoms of novel coronavirus pneumonia such as fever, weakness, dry cough, and difficulty in breathing, it may make you very sensitive to the subtle changes in your body. The physical symptoms are often exaggerated and overestimated, and it is difficult to concentrate on what you are doing because you cannot stop worrying about the worst outcomes.

4. Behavioral Changes.

In order to get a sense of security and make yourself feel more comfortable, you may have some obsessive-compulsive behaviors, such as washing your hands repeatedly and constantly checking for the latest information about the epidemic.

II. We Can Cope with the Epidemic Proactively in the Following Ways

We should get to know the epidemic situation and the knowledge of epidemic prevention timely through official channels. In addition, we should have confidence that we will be able to defeat the epidemic.

In order to assist the students in coping with the physical and mental ordeals brought about by the epidemic, the PRCC has launched online psychological support service via QQ–1127403064 (an account number of Tencent chatting app). The daily working hours of online psychological counseling are 9:00-12:00, 14:00-17:00, 18:00-21:00.

Thank you for your trust, strong support and cooperation! Let's join hands to fight the epidemic with our concerted efforts.
